Youth from several of Hampton's affordable housing communities will participate in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program on January 19th.  STEM is organized by the United States Military Academy at West Point Mathematics Department which is the oldest engineering school in the nation.  The workshop will challenge the youth with friendly competition with the building and programming of robots.  For more information, please see the press release and flyer.  We look forward to sharing photos of the Hampton event in the near future!

A warm welcome is extended to Ronald Jackson, who was selected by the Board of Commissioners to serve as Executive Director. He served four years in the United States Army, holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Admin from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Old Dominion University. He has worked in the housing industry for over 18 years and his vast knowledge and background includes redevelopment, finance, public housing, Section 8, and general administration.  He has worked locally for both the Chesapeake and Suffolk Redeveopment and Housing Authority's as well as the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation.  Prior to joining HRHA he served as Deputy Executive Director for the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority in Toledo, Ohio.

We now have site-based waiting lists for public housing.  This means that your expected waiting time will vary depending on the community or communities you select.  Estimated wait times are:

  • Lincoln Park, 6 months - 3 years

  • Langley Village, 3 - 12 months

  • North Phoebus, 12 month - 4 years
